Some of the historic hotels in Colorado Springs serve as more than just a place to stay overnight. These hotels often hold wedding ceremonies and other important celebrations that guests remember for a lifetime. Historic stained glass in these hotels can serve as beautiful backdrops for photoshoot opportunities and actually work to attract guests to your establishment. If you have historical stained glass in your hotel that’s starting to showcase signs of deterioration, it may be ready for restoration. Here’s how to get started on your commercial stained glass restoration.

The First Steps for Historical Stained Glass Restoration in Colorado Springs

The first step is identifying if your stained glass is ready for restoration or not. Restoration is usually required around the 75-year to 100-year mark. Signs that your stained glass needs restoration includes broken glass, missing glass, cracked glass, soft lead, brittle joints, white film appearing on your glass, discoloration, yellowing plexiglass, and/or a convex/concave appearance. If you notice one or more of these symptoms, you’re probably ready for restoration. The next step is finding the right stained glass studio. Do your research in finding the right one. Always look for experience and training– when contacting potential stained glass studies ask for client referrals from past projects that are similar in size to yours. Also, be aware that any stained glass studio that tries to give you a restoration over the phone should be avoided– project estimates can only be given after an on-site assessment is completed.
